Trimo’s competition encourages innovation and creativity in young researchers as well as developing and fostering cooperation on a global scale between the commercial and academic sectors.
Trimo, which has been researching and developing new business models, processes, services, products, technologies and markets within its operations for over 50 years, is looking to develop young students from Europe as well as encouraging them to promote their innovative ideas. Creative ideas and the approaches of individuals are continually encouraged through a number of projects and competitions, including the now internationally acclaimed Trimo Research Awards.
The competition is open to students from across Europe – Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Serbia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom, where Trimo has business operations.
Speaking about the Trimo Research Awards Danijel Zupančič, MSc, President of the Committee for Research Work and Deputy General Manager for the Technical Department at Trimo said: “Young researchers get a lot of new knowledge and experience in practical work and an opportunity to tackle real entrepreneurial challenges. Conversely Trimo has access to many new and fresh ideas that create trends. Consequently, different types of knowledge are exchanged that encourage cooperation between the company and universities at a European level, which is even more important in these austere times and recognition of the company and students by the specialist public also increases.”
Tatjana Fink, MBA, Trimo’s General Manager, added: “one of the principal aims of the awards is to also encourage the transfer of information and ideas between Trimo and external knowledge centres that work in those fields of interest to Trimo and encourage contact between the most promising students and the company. Trimo Research Awards are an important source for recognising and creating innovation and a solid link between academia and commerce. We are certain that the development of knowledge and cooperation within the company and with external partners strengthens our competitiveness in the long run.”
In the past ten years, Trimo has presented over 400 awards of which 229 were given for Diploma papers, 85 for dissertations and expert works and 87 for Doctoral theses. 226 mentors from 53 universities from 12 European countries also cooperated in these works.
